Unhappy Darwin Nunez wants to forget Liverpool’s struggle on international responsibilities

Darwin Nunez admits he “don’t do what he should do” at Liverpool but wants to forget his Anfield Woes when it comes to international duties.
Nunez will spend next week with Uruguay as they face two major World Cup qualifiers against world champions Argentina and Bolivia.
The former Benfica man, who will enjoy the opportunity to connect with his country in a tragic spell in Merseyside, missed a free throw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League gunfight while his EFL Cup final loss was invalid on Newcastle after coming off the bench in Sunday’s EFL Cup final.

The ball just doesn’t want to go in – Nunez
Nunez told El Pais: “I know I’m not doing what I should have done. The ball just doesn’t want to go in.
“It’s hard because when you do it well, it’s like when I’m against PSG [setting up Harvey Elliott for the winner at the Parc des Princes]your confidence will change so that you can break it in the next game. But then you will fall.
“I just want to forget what happened there, and in addition, there is nothing better for players wearing your country’s shirts.”
The 25-year-old has been criticized by Reds owner Arne Slot for his work rate, despite Liverpool’s promotion to the Premier League title by seven goals.
Nunez longs to stay in Liverpool
His form leads to speculation that Nunez might leave Liverpool in the summer, but the forward of Rangy is determined to bow his head and prove his worth.
He added: “This is a moment when a person goes through football. I’m not a guy who throws towels because he doesn’t play, but I’m going to keep working so I can play.”
Salah form glows on Nunez – Kuyt
Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt said Mohamed Salah’s achievements in all games this season have made Nunez’s Statistics look worse.
The Dutchman will be on Sunday at Anfield vs. Chelsea legend told PA Sport: “You always have to try to stay in Liverpool, every player has to perform day after day and you know if you don’t have a performance another player can fill your place.
“If you know Arne’s slot machine every day, he’ll try to push Darwin to get the best of his effect so he never stops doing it, and then the player decides whether he will play or not because he has to perform.
“When you have teammates like Mo Salah – or in my time Fernando Torres – these guys are making all supporters want you to achieve the same amount of goals.
“Darwin is pushing himself very hard, sometimes doing well, sometimes not hitting the goal he wants, which makes it hard because the pressure is so great.”
