The total of $12 million seized on Erin Hills – the winner was $2.4 million.
USGA
The American Women’s Open is the most famous and prestigious professional for women’s golf – it has a boot wallet.
With $12 million earned this week at Erin Hills, the U.S. Women’s Open’s total wallet is the largest of all women’s golf. Thanks to a partnership with sponsor Ally, USGA was able to increase its total wallet to $12 million last year.
That number has grown 200% since 2014, more than double the $5.5 million wallet at the tournament four years ago.
The $2.4 million the champion will receive is the biggest winner check of all women’s golf, except for the first place in the CME Group Tour champion of LPGA.
The winner will not be the only serious cash to bring home this week. Each player in the top 10 will be taken home north of $280,000, while each player in the top 25 will earn at least $100,000. Additionally, every professional in the field (whether they lay off or missed) will earn $10,000 this week.
