The Midwest Bird Festival will be held this week in Sylves, Illinois, with the PGA Tour heading to TPC Deere for the John Deere Classic.

It will be the last stop for the country and then cross the pond for two weeks, the Scottish Open and Open Championship matches. For the second straight week, most famous people were on vacation. In most cases, this is the same field we had in Detroit last week, with Aldrich Potgeiter overturning Max Greyserman and our pick Chris Kirk in the playoffs. The fairway is tree-shaded, but also has a wide land area. There are a lot of tight dog legs and a lot of elevation changes. Rough is thick, so looking for fairways and green will be very important.

There are many crossing areas between the location last week and TPC Deere Run. I think this week is less distance from the tee and more efficient. From there, many things are the same – dial in from 75-150 yards, stumbled on a hot week with putters and you might find yourself lifting the trophy on Sunday.

We mentioned the connection between Detroit Golf Club and Deere Run. I also use Royal Liverpool and TPC Twins as related courses, just like I did last week. This week, I added TPC Scottsdale – we also saw the crossover success of the Colonial Country Club host of the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Chris Kirk (38-1)

Yes, we will be on the same horse again this week. We pointed out last week that Kirk is one of the best wedges in the game with windows of 75-150 yards. He drove for a long time and he was a former winner in the colony. We also point out that he has three top 20 results in Detroit – now with runner-up and finished in top 30 in seven appearances by John Deere.

Lucas Glover (41-1)

Three weeks ago we last met him at the Travelers Championship and Glover fired in the 60s when we last met him. Like Kirk, Glover is one of the best in this field from 75-150 yards. His tee is also very effective, having gained a good drive over the last 24 rounds, ranking 29th in this field. He finished fourth in Detroit, seventh in TPC Twins, and in the Colonials, Glover finished two top 25, two top 15, and top 10 in 2021, the same year he won the John Deere classic.

Michael King (50-1)

Kim was also a classic champion for former John Deere and received the highest honor in 2018. Recently, he has laid off 10 consecutive jobs, including three signature matches and three major championships. He finished 26th in Detroit last week and earlier this season he finished second in TPC Scottsdale and 16^Th In the Colonial (he was also ranked sixth in 2023). He is another player in the field, and he is excellent from 75-150 yards.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout (65-1)

Bezuidenhout is a short-lived expert, not only a great putter, but one of the better players on the field in the 75-150 yards. He finished second in his debut in 2022. Earlier this season, he finished fourth in TPC Scottsdale, and he made it to No. 16, 17, 21 and 15 in his last four trips to colonial Charles Schwab.

Kevin Roy (79-1)

Roy finished eighth on Rocket Classic last week, and he ranked third in the field and fourth in SG: Approach and SG: Tee to Green. He has been ranked 11th in SG in the last 24 rounds: batting, getting good driving for the eighth time, and for SG: PAR-4 third-place – yes, he is also very good for 75-150 yards.

Sammy Valimachi (95-1)

Valimaki finished 19th in Detroit last week, shooting all four rounds in the 1960s. He finished 12th in John Deere’s debut last year, where he opened with a 61-round record. He has a great approach and is one of the best putts in the game. Valimaki has ranked fourth in this field in the last 24 rounds, with a birdie or better finish, close to eighth in the hole at 125-150 yards and eighth in the tour of SG: Putting.
