DALLAS – Sergio Garcia’s three bogey in the last 36 holes in Sergio Garcia’s final hole will likely have 25 consecutive U.S. public appearances in the final stage of the U.S. final Monday.
Unless a USGA waiver for the former Masters champion who is now playing for Liv Golf is unlikely, he will not be in Oakmont next month. Garcia recorded five top ten in the Open, including the 2005 T3; tied for 12th last year at Pinehurst.
Garcia ranked 67th in the PGA Championship, shooting 65 times at the Bent Tree Country Club, blocked by a 20-foot birdie on the 18th hole. But recently, Garcia struggled, missed the Masters layoffs and shot 79 from the field in the PGA Championship.
“Obviously, even Luke [Donald] I’m giving me a draft pick now and I’m going to tell him no,” Garcia said on Sunday’s PGA: “It’s obvious that I need to be better. ”
“I need to get more positions before the Masters. You know, just show you my game is solid and it can help the European team. It’s simple.”
On the bent tree on Monday, Garcia doubled the assessment, saying: “I can only play better. I didn’t do that.”
