Raphinha’s goal is to stay in Barcelona

Raphinha expressed hope to stay in Barcelona for his career in Barcelona after signing a one-year renewal with Laliga Championships.

The Brazilian striker will put pens on paper in a deal that will keep him in touch with Barcelona until the end of June 2028.

His new contract comes after a remarkable season, with Raphinha being named one of Barca’s campaign captains, inspired Blaugrana to participate in Laliga and Copa del Rey Double.

Barcelona also won the Espana Supercopa De Espana and reached the Champions League semi-finals, losing an extraordinary tie with Inter Milan in the second leg of San Siro.

In all the matches of the season, Raphinha entered the Laliga final of Barca, with 34 goals and 22 assists against Bilbao, many viewed him as a contender to win the Ballon d’Or.

Raphinha sees himself as the amulet of Barca after 2028.

Raphinha told the club’s streaming platform Barca One: “It’s special and I’m so happy that part of the Barca family of the year has been part of it.

“I’ve told my family before that my dreams are here until the end of my career and I hope to be able to do that, but to the best of it.”

Raphinha has scored only 13 league goals in his first two seasons at Barca after joining Leeds United.

Before his transition at Flick, Raphinha was seen as a player that Barcelona could sell to help their financial situation.

But, as his future is now safe, Rafenha desires to build on the dramatic rise of form.

He added: “I’m Rafenha now, dad and captain.”

“I’m more responsible than when I arrived, but years have passed and you matured and I think I’ve matured a lot since I got here.

“But I think I can still be more mature and with the help of everyone, I want to be a better person and a better football player.

“I want to keep scoring goals, assists, and most importantly, I have won a lot of championships in this shirt. That’s my personal goal.”
