Liverpool reportedly has had discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt involving a summer transfer from French striker Hugo Ekitike. The 22-year-old also attracted interest from Chelsea, which Frankfurt said was valued at about 100 million euros (£84 million/$113 million).
According to German Sky, Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt held talks between Hugo Ekitike. It is said that the upcoming Liverpool coach Arne Slot and Key Club character Michael Edwards are both keen on striker.
Ekitike has had a successful 2024-25 campaign in Germany, scoring 22 goals in all competitions and providing 12 assists. His impressive form helped Frankfurt to qualify for third place next season and Champions League.
Eintracht Frankfurt has not received an official Ekitike offer yet. However, German club sporting director Markus Krösche said that if the valuation is reached, it may be willing to sell, acknowledging that Ekitike is “one of the most interesting strikers in the European market”.
Frankfurt initially acquired Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain for 20 million euros. His outstanding performance has significantly improved his valuation, with some reports showing that it started about 80 million euros before climbing to its current 100 million euros.
Liverpool are clearly looking to strengthen their offensive options and reduce the goal burden on Mohamed Salah. Chelsea is considered the signature of Liverpool’s main rival Ekitike. Other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, are also linked to the striker.
Merseyside Club reportedly pursues other goals, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Jeremia Frimpong. Some believe that the potential acquisition of ekitike is seen as an exciting prospect for Liverpool.
