NHL Rumors: Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leaf

Steve Kouleas: “Well, I’m opening your laptop. I’ll hand it over to you. What’s going on in Dallas? Is there smoke or fire?”

Dave Pagnotta: “We’ll see about the last part of that. There’s definitely smoke. As reported yesterday, a lot of the players on the Dallas Stars, even though they said the right things during their exit interviews with the media, internally, different tune. They were not happy with how Pete DeBoer handled himself and his team during the Western Conference Final. There were a lot of stuff behind the scenes, behind closed doors, that that they were, they were, they were, they weren’t happy with.

Kouleas: “Wait a minute, are you saying it’s time to change Dallas? Are players asking for changes?”

Pagnotta: “There may be, I don’t think the players are against the changes behind the bench. Pete Deboer, who has a year left on his contract. That’s my understanding. It’s my understanding, and now a serious consideration for management, they may change behind the bench.”

Kouleas: “Wow. That means what Peter Deboer is, it’s too late to go to Boston or Pittsburgh. I can’t see one there. But who’s going to Dallas?

NHL Injured: Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets

Pagnotta: “Yeah, well, that’s going to be the thing. Like, Dallas is probably there. Here’s, we’re talking about these teams, three in a row, the Stanley Cup final.”

Kouleas: “Dallas will be back. We do have some cap issues with (Jamie) Benn and (Matt) Duchene.”

Pagnotta: “There’s about $5 million in space. They’re going to free up a little money. You’ll hear the name of Mason Parade. His name is less than $5 million. But, three appearances in the Western Conference Finals. It’s like there’s a few things that are far from each other. From a coach who just goes beyond that kind of imagined, you’ll probably come across the type of weapon.

Dennis Bernstein: “(Joel) Quenneville is in Anaheim, who else is there?”

NHL Rumor: Buffalo Sabres Will Make a Progressive This Offseason

Pagnotta: “(Peter) Laviolette.”

Bernstein: “Well, today, his recent resume is no better than that of Pete Deboer.”

Pagnotta: “I can’t see the stars in Dallas, if they do make changes behind the bench, I can’t see them going to a young coach, a hot assistant or someone, I think they’ll go with someone with experience gallant (Jay) Woodcroft.”

nhlrumors.com Note: In Dallas, this is an interesting situation involving the stars of Pete Deboer. Deboer has had success, but as we see in his Florida Panthers, the Devils of New Jersey, the Sharks of San Jose and the Golden Knights in Las Vegas, the message falls on the Deaf-Mutual perspective. It’s nice to have a 9-0 record in Game 7, but the truth is that he can only play in one team because his record in the conference finals is 2-6. That’s not good. Not to mention the 0-2 in the Stanley Cup final.

NHL Rumor: Teams should still be interested in trading Chris Kreider

Yes, Deboer won, but if there is a question of whether or not he is suitable for the Dallas Star when he hires. Now, Jake Oettinger’s problem has been signed for another eight years. Under the pressure of the playoffs and the bright lights, he made suspicious coaching decisions to cause harm to his team. When you hear multiple players discussing the coach and their fit with the team, you make something.

It will be interesting to see General Manager Jim Nill’s work as Deboer has a year left in the deal. Again, making changes at this later date is not ideal, but that’s great for the Las Vegas Golden Cavaliers, who hired Bruce Cassidy on June 14, 2022, after Boston Bruins fired him on June 6, 2022. If Deboer did get fired, maybe he would land somewhere else and finally overcome the hump.

Although this is not usually the case, the coach can be fired later in the game. Maybe Pete Deboer will be next in Dallas.
