Do the Vancouver Canucks want to move the goalkeeper?
Stephan Roget of the Canadian Army: Next season, the contracts of Thatcher Demko ($5,000,000), Kevin Lankinen ($4,500,000) and Arturs Silovs ($850,000) of the Vancouver Canucks. Silovs no longer exempts from the waiver and will be claimed if the fall is abandoned.
During the offseason, the UFA market is a bit sparse, and maybe some are available in trade. After six years of development, throwing Silov to an exemption is not good asset management.
Carrying three goalkeepers is an option, but someone’s deal seems more likely. The Ganaks should be able to get some Silov picks if they decide they want to move. They could seek to trade Rankinenin, but they just signed him this season.

Demko has one year left for a contract, no trade protection, and is the most likely to deal with of the three.
It would be a “shock” if New York Islanders didn’t finish the first pick in the 2025 NHL draft
Adam Kimelman of NHL.com: New York Islander GM Mathieu Darche said he would be shocked if they weren’t the first time picking in the 2025 NHL Draft.
“I hope to speak on June 27. You have to be open to everything, but I would be shocked if we didn’t speak first.
When (NHL Commissioner) Gary (Bettman) announced his first draft pick, I would have been shocked if it weren’t for the New York Islander. ”
Dutch continues to add:
“It’s not that you get a job (GM) often, and the first thing you have to do is pick the best players in the draft,” Dutch said. “I hope we can make a draft pick. … You have to do due diligence. Anyone who calls has to listen. But someone has to actually knock my socks to trade because we’re going to attract a special player.”
