A former Manchester United player once called “the next Cristiano Ronaldo” but confronted Sir Alex Ferguson’s advice which could ruin his career.

The Red Devils are known for their academy and have made many first teams in Carrington. From 92nd grade to recent graduates, such as Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, Man Utd often has his own member in the matchday roster.
Ferguson has had a great impact on many people’s success at Old Trafford and has described how to get the most out of it.
“I’m always proud to see young players develop. Like teachers, the job of a manager is to inspire people to become better. Give them better technical skills to win, make them better, and they can go anywhere in their lives. When you give young people a chance, you not only create longer life for the team, but also loyalty.
“They will always remember that you were the manager who gave them the first chance. Once they knew you were hitting them, they would accept your way. You do develop a sense of family. If you give young people your attention and get a chance to succeed, they will surprise you.”
However, some young people who were prompted for their outstanding performance did not reach Old Trafford’s height.

Not everyone who participates in first-team appearances graduates are enjoying careers with Gary Neville, David Beckham or Ryan Giggs, many of whom are still playing at lower levels, and perhaps none of them fits better in the Flop category than Federico Macheda.

Macheda’s “Next Ronaldo”
After Macheda placed high expectations, especially after he won the game against Aston Villa in the 2009 Premier League.
In fact, Makaida is known as the “Next Ronaldo” in Manchester, but his goal for Villa will be as good as the Italians under Ferguson.
Macheda, now entering the Twilight of his career, left England in 2016 and has been playing football in Italy, Greece, Türkiye and Cyprus.

Macheda recalled in his 2017 conversation that he now regretted when he recalled his decision to move to Sampdoria to compete with Ferguson by loan instead of staying in the Premier League.

“But I want to play in Italy, in Serie A.
In 2025, Macheda is currently playing football in Greece with Asteras Tripolis and has only been able to play 19 Premier League appearances for Man Utd in total, which could be even bigger if he had heard of Ferguson.
