Kieran Tierney at Arsenal

Left-back Kieran Tierney has completed the Celtic move.

Scotland International has signed a deal at Celtic Park six years after leaving Glasgow for Arsenal.

The 28-year-old won 10 major trophys during his first tenure with the Celtics, and has only played 104 league appearances since his injured career in North London, and Tierney is happy to return to his childhood club.

Tierney, who also had loans with Real Sociedad in the 2023-24 season, said on the Celtics’ website: “Everyone has been famous for months and is just here to stand out again with the Celtics’ striptease.

“I talked to the manager and obviously I worked with him before and I kept in touch with him. He was one of the best so I was so lucky and grateful that he had a chance to come back again.

“When you left home, you grew up and learned different things. I spent a year in Spain, learned another language and played in other leagues, so I was definitely a different person.

“When it comes to players, like I always say – I will do my best, I will do my best for the club and that’s all I can do.

“My ambition is just to make the Celtics as successful as possible, to keep our position at the top, to keep winning the trophy and do a great job for the Celtics.”

Rodgers excitedly secure Tierney’s signature

The move allowed Tierney to reunite with Brendan Rodgers, who has strengthened the team now as they hope to retain the Scottish Super Championship they won last season.

Rodgers said: “We are delighted to welcome Kieran back to the Celtics. He is a talented, high-quality player who will be a huge addition to our roster.

“Kiran has been in the blood of the Celtics and he is happy to be back where he loves.

“He is someone who has already given a lot to the Celtics and I know he is very motivated and eager to help the club bring more and more success to our fans.

“We are happy to bring such an elite player back to the club and I look forward to working with him and other teams again as we face many challenges at home and in Europe.”
