Bryson DeChambeau opens in LIV deal

Oakmont, Pa. – Bryson DeChambeau, two days before he began his second open title defense, said he will start a new contract with Liv Golf at the end of the year.

A new DeChambeau contract with LIV will strengthen the tour’s prospects. But if Liv loses two major titles and other titles, it will face survivability.

DeChambeau said Tuesday he believes Liv “will not go anywhere” and that Liv’s Golf Team Golf is a “viable business option.” By the latter point, DeChambeau praised TGL, a simulation-based team golf league that started in January and features Tour players.

“TGL did a great job,” DeChambeau said. “They have some money-making teams and I believe there is a sustainable model out there.

Since the first public victory in the United States in 2020, Dechambeau has also been asked how his sponsors changed and whether Liv has affected his sponsor appeal – “This is not a revocation by Liv,” he said.
