Everton manager David Moyes faced some challenges this summer, most notably losing many players, and went through this challenge, with Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin not having contracts at the end of the month.
Since both seem likely to leave, Moyes will need replacements to strengthen his defense and offensive scheme.
Jack Grealish is reportedly able to travel to the Toffees, although his salary requirements and asking price may prevent the Merseyside club.
Another player Moyes aspires to be Villarreal star Thierno Barry, who can strengthen Everton’s frontline.
The club is also considering another move forward, and he may be better than Barry.
Everton considers Barry’s upgrade
Much depends on the money Moyes provides him this summer. With profitability and sustainability regulations, managers will have to spend wisely.
According to Liverpool’s echoes, Everton is now considering taking action for Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade to enhance their offense.
The Bundesliga striker will be transferred at £42 million. Whether this is in Moyes’ budget remains to be seen.
But he is exactly what the club needs. Everton completed the 2024/25 Premier League season with only 42 goals, the lowest goal in any team outside the relegation zone.
So if Moyes’ goal is to make his team score higher, Woltemade’s move may be crucial.
Nick Woltemade vs. Thierno Barry
Last season, Barry scored 16 goals from FC Basel in the summer. He also has the ability to play on the right wing, and Moyes is eager to strengthen this position in the summer.
While the French would be a good signing, pursuing Woltemade might be a better idea.
Not only did the German score better shooting percentages in the target percentage (50% vs 36%), but he also recorded targets per 90 goals (1.28 vs 1.09) and registered more shooting moves (4.38 vs 1.78).
Last semester, Woltemade also recorded a 25% goal rate in the Bundesliga, while Barry’s target conversion rate was only 15% in La Liga.
The Germans also created more big opportunities (8 to seven) and got more dribbling at home (1.1 vs 0.5).
These statistics show that Woltemade is the most attractive signing of Moyes this summer.

Moyes will be called “Excellent” by U23 Scout Antonio Mango after a stunning season in Stuttgart, and he will indeed sign a player with a bright future.
However, Everton is not his only suitor, which could make life hard for the manager to look up.
He could be an incredible signing and proves that the Toffees meant next season in the Premier League.
The next few weeks are interesting to say the least. Watch this space, Everton fans.
