Leeds and Burnley compete for free agents to sign ‘huge’ Premier League defender

According to a new report, Leeds United now faces Burnley in a transfer battle, signing a Premier League-level defender in a free transfer this summer.

Leeds follows more transfers after NMECHA deal

The whites confirmed their first signing of the summer transfer window Sunday afternoon as Lukas Nmecha agreed to expire at Wolfsburg at the end of this month.

The offensive midfielder is a big player in Farke’s team this season, but the club is not resting just because of his arrival as they are already working to add more.

As reported by the African Foot, Leeds has contacted Manchester City with Manchester City by signing a loan agreement. The 19-year-old joined the Blues in January but was on the rest of the loan at RC Lens. Now, he intends to move away for the moment, with Leeds and Southampton fighting for his signature.

He’ll be better than Bijol: £5m defender wants to sign Leeds now

Leeds United could have a better transfer than to snap up Jaka Bjöll by reaching the deal.

Meanwhile, defender Jaka Bijol has agreed on conditions for moving to Elland Road this summer, and a deal appears to be close. He isn’t the only defender on the club’s radar, as football insiders report says Alex Moreno is also interested in moving to Leeds this summer. The 32-year-old can be sold for £5 million as the whites are in the market for the new left-back market.

Leeds faces Burnley in Keane fight

The potential new defender roster doesn’t stop there, because according to Liverpool’s echo, Leeds is interested in signing Everton Michael Keane.

Everton defender Michael Keane

Keane, who has been at Goodison Park since July 2017, has no contract at the end of this month, although he looks more likely to leave when he is still negotiating a new contract. This puts Leeds alongside Burnley and Sheffield United, keen on making free transfers to the defenders.

The 32-year-old, who used to be called “huge” by Harry Redknapp, has dropped in the order of pecking in Everton in recent seasons. Keane has played 32 games in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season and has played only 12, 9 and 14 times in the last 3 games.

For white people, Keane might be a viable option to offer more depth behind Joe Rodon and Pascal Sruijk, and there aren’t many free signings on the market to offer such a rich top-notch flight experience.
