Al Hilal CEO Esteve Calzada said a move to sign a short-term deal with Cristiano Ronaldo so that he can play in the club’s World Cup has never been a realistic claim.
Al Hilal has ties to the Portuguese superstar, which will soon sign a contract with Al Nassr and is reportedly eager to compete in the US Summer Championships.

Signing Ronaldo is “counter-intuitive”
However, Karzada admitted to signing a player from Al Hilal’s professional league rival, even though they are all owned by Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, it is always unlikely that they will be.
He told the BBC: “We don’t usually comment on the player’s situation, especially because our names are always put there when the player or agent wants to have a better deal with his club or are trying to move out.
“It’s a very strange transfer window, it’s a very short time.
“You don’t want to make a decision on this game and then you have to keep going for the next two or three years.
“While I respect Ronaldo as a huge player, we all recognize him, it is certainly totally counterintuitive that you play the biggest player of your biggest opponent with you.
“It will be more in just three to four weeks.”
Al Hilal is expected to be busy in the second transfer window
The first transfer window launched for clubs participating in the Club World Cup is now closed and the second transfer window is closed.

Karzada added: “We’ve been trying to see if we can strengthen the team. But some players have a “holiday” mentality, sometimes some players are just asking for too much money, and we know our team is very competitive.

Al Hilal began club World Cup sports against Real Madrid on June 18, then faced Salzburg RB four days later and had a group stage with Pachuca on June 27.
