Tommy Fleetwood joked Saturday that he was ranked number one, but he might be the number one on a few lists he didn’t want to score.
He said: “I’m not winning many statistics series for someone on the PGA Tour, so when the interview room at TPC River Highlands broke, he said.
Fleetwood had a chance to finally stand out on Sunday.
The Brit made it to the final round of the Travelers Championship with a three-shot lead as he hoped to get rid of the nickname “The Best Player Without the PGA Tour”.
“I would love to win on the PGA Tour,” Fleetwood said Saturday. “I think it’s like an element of the career that each of you wants, and of course I want it.
“There are some of my consistency, and I’m very proud of what’s on the FedEx Cup and the world rankings and things like that. So, there’s a lot to be happy about. But, of course, you know, of course, I won’t know, you won’t foolishly say I don’t care, I certainly want to win, I want to win, hope it will happen very early.”
Fleetwood will go all out on Sunday to play with New England’s Aboriginal son Keegan Bradley and his 2023 champion of his de facto hometown event. Bradley and Russell Henley are Fleetwood’s closest followers Sunday.
