Bad Gones hanging banners and publish statements asking hosting to sell downgraded Lyons

A well-known Lyon fan group asked owner John Textor to relegate to Ligue 2 to sell the Stricken Club.

Last night, the French champions’ fate was seven times, confirming that their situation improved after interim sanctions in November after they failed to convince the National Administration of Control (DNCG), the agency responsible for the financial well-being of the French club.

The club’s supporters reacted to shock and anger and summoned Textor, which owns a 77% stake in Lyon through his Eagle Football Group, to sell.

The bad guys hung banners throughout the city this morning and issued a statement that read: “The club’s season end is also difficult, but also for our relationship. We think it’s hard for us to know each other, to know where the club is going, to think about it, and we think you’re like us, like us, to create a general uneasiness.

“John never, and will never be, the person in this situation. This Botaforgo supporter should now leave the landscape of Lyon. We call on numerous creditors to regain control and return the keys to those who have the ability to respect the institution.”

Eagle Football Group also owns a majority stake in Brazilian club Botafogo and agreed to sell its stake in Crystal Palace to New York Jets Woody Johnson on Monday, although the deal is awaiting Premier League approval.

Textor hopes to convince DNCG that Lyon’s situation has improved, selling Rayan Cherki to Manchester City for £34m and freeing high-income earners Alexandre Lacazette and Anthony Lopes.

He met with DNCG on Tuesday and spoke before the decision was announced, saying Lyon will continue to travel to the top flight.

“You can see from the contributions of shareholders that we have invested not only in DNCG, but also in our UEFA licensing process. Not to mention the good news about the sale of Crystal Palace. Our liquidity profile has improved considerably.”

Lyon makes a decision

Lyon has announced that it will appeal.

Their statement read: “The Olympic-style Lyonnais noticed the incomprehensible decision made by the DNCG and confirmed that it will appeal immediately.

“Over the past few months, we have worked closely with DNCG to meet all its requirements, with capital investments exceeding the amount required. Our cash flow has improved significantly due to our shareholders’ share donations and the sale of Crystal Palace, and we have sufficient resources for the 2025/26 season.

“With proven funding and sporting success, we have gained a place in the European competition for two consecutive years, and we sincerely don’t understand how administrative decisions can be relegated to such a great French club.”
