The Vegas Golden Knights traded defender Nicolas Hague to the Nashville Predators Sunday night in exchange for defender Jérémy Lauzon and forward Colton Sissons. Immediately after the deal, The Hague signed a four-year contract worth $5.5 million in Nashville.
The Hague has been in the trade neighborhood since the Las Vegas playoff run ended at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers as the team continues to struggle with salary caps. The 25-year-old Blueliner has scored five goals and 12 points in 68 games against Vegas this season.
Trade analysis
During the offseason, The Hague always felt that The Hague was destined to be a hat casualty, and General Manager Kelly McCrimmon made this clear here. As Vegas looks at the bigger move, their pursuit of Mitch Marner, there is no realistic path every season.
For head coach Bruce Cassidy, Lauzon would be a familiar face as the two spent some time together in Boston. Lao Zong was injured for most of the past season, playing in just 28 games and recording one point.

Still, he feels his presence when he joins the roster. In 2023-24, Lauzon set an NHL record with 383 hits in one season, but Kiefer Sherwood’s 462 shots exceeded the mark this season.
Sissons has a steady presence in the Predators organization since 2012, scoring 21 points in 72 games this season. He naturally fits in the bottom six in Las Vegas, where depth has long been a hallmark of team success.
Lauzon suffered a $2 million block shot percentage, while Sissons made $2.85 million. Both contracts expire after the 2025-26 season, which adds to Vegas two low-risk short-term increases. For now, Vegas has $757,857 in blocking space.
Overall, the deal offers greater depth and flexibility for Las Vegas while clearing the way for potentially greater volatility in the offseason. It is unlikely that the Golden Knights’ view of Mana, but tomorrow we may learn more, during free courts if the signature trade is not done.
