Former Liverpool striker says Alexander Isak should be on Arne Slot’s summer shopping list

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes Alexander Isak should be on the transfer wish list for Arne Slot this summer.
The Newcastle star has scored 19 goals in 24 Premier League games and is linked to a shift away from St James’Park, although Hippies repeatedly said he would not sell him.
But if that stance changes, Aldridge said Swedish International missed Newcastle’s 2-0 loss at Anfield last night, which would complement Liverpool’s existing forward option.

He told Betano: “I think Alexander Isak and every team in the Premier League are very suitable for Liverpool.
“He’s the same as Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah in terms of output this season. I don’t think Newcastle can let him go, but if they decide to do that, if Liverpool yells for him, I’d be happy.”
Can ISAK replace Salah and Nunez?
There may be some stirring in Anfield this summer, Salah has not agreed to terms regarding the new contract, and Darwin Nunez has been criticized by Slot for lack of effort.
It would be no surprise if Liverpool aims for a new striker, and Aldridge said the nine were firmly missing one thing in the car race.
He added: “I have been saying with Liverpool strikers that you have to score one goal every two games. Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler are the same because they are able to do that. It goes with Liverpool shirts – their center only needs to score one every two games, maybe up to three.
“If you’re a Liverpool striker, you should be fighting for the Golden Boot and being with people like Haaland, but none of them did this season. Diogo Jota was injured, but no player could take his place – to do that, you need to score a goal every two games and the manager will put you in the goal. That’s why Salah is in every game.”
Aldridge thinks Keller can keep moving forward
Aldridge thinks there will be changes, and that’s not just the front.
Aldridge said that Alisson or Caoimhin Kelleher may leave as a deal has been arranged for Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to get from Valencia, Aldridge said.
His money was on Irish Kelleher, who spent most of his time at Merseyside as Alisson’s second place.
He said: “I think Liverpool will pay a lot of money for Giorgi Mamardashvili, which means that Allison or Caoimhin Kelleher will leave the club. It must be something that has been talked about between the director and Arne slot.
“Kelleher is too good to be second in any club, and he knows that too. I’m a stubborn Liverpool, so I’ll always stay at the club if I can, but you have to look at it from a player’s perspective, too. I think, unfortunately for Liverpool, he might be leaving the club this summer. If he wants to go out for a week, a week, then he needs to leave Anfield and find somewhere else.”
