Despite Jimmy Butler’s departure, the Miami Heat still managed to get some good returns. One of them is David Mitchell.
Jimmy Butler was transferred to the Golden State Warriors over the past month as part of the blockbuster deal, and David Mitchell was sent to the Miami Heat by the Toronto Raptors.
Mitchell was selected as the ninth pick in the 2021 draft and has seen a sharp drop in production since his rookie season with the Sacramento Kings.
But now, in Miami, the gritty defense is tasting all the opportunities he has gained in the franchise.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. offers compliments for new Heat Guard Davion Mitchell
Mitchell and calories are seen by many as a good fit for each other. Since Miami is known for its “culture” and it has a focus around hard work, dedication and teamwork, it’s very interesting to have the talent of Mitchell with these qualities.
Even though Mitchell hasn’t made a full adjustment around the team, Jaime Jaquez Jr. has witnessed some promising traits of his new teammates.
As he appeared on 3 deep podcasts, the Heat looked forward, except for how Mitchell performed in the heat.
“I mean, he was incredible,” he said of Mitchell. “I obviously played against him.
“His tenacity and the way he always defends the ball and is always on the road, it’s really a talent. He’s just on the road, it’s a skill.
“He’s going to be great, I’m really happy with the rest of the year with him.”
David Mitchell grows well with the Miami Heat
The numbers have proven why Mitchell replenishes calories. Since landing on South Beach after the February 6 trade deadline, the 26-year-old has immediately won the trust of head coach Erik Spoelstra and praised captain Bam Adebayo.
He now starts in all eight games to score 10.0 points with 4.1 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals.
And, now he is a non-shooter, now with a career-high efficiency of 53.6% (one-third) of his career-high 53.6%.
Mitchell’s progress in heat over the rest of the season is certainly worth seeing.
