USGA will start its new president in 2026.
USGA TAB served as president on Sunday with former Florida Crocodile Golf member Kevin Hammer at this week’s annual meeting at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club. Hammer was nominated for the position in the fall, but the vote was held this weekend.
Fred Perpall enters the final year of USGA’s three-year term as president. Next year, he will leave the matter to Hammer.
“I continue to be inspired by men and women who reach out and work for years to ensure USGA remains in a strong position to have a greater impact on golf,” Perpall, who entered his seventh year on the board. “Apart from the tremendous talent they share, we all love the game and hope to be better than we find it. With Mike (Whan) at the helm, we share a vision and solid path, and this connection leads us every step we take.”
USGA also announced that Hammer “will continue to serve on the Governance, Nomination, Compensation and Leadership Development and International Team Selection Committee in 2025.”
Hammer is an excellent amateur golfer who plays golf at the University of Florida. He has worked on the Florida Golf Association executive committee for 10 years, including two presidents.
USGA created the president-elect position in 2019 to ensure continuity during the transition period. Hammer will serve as president-elect for one year before taking over Perpall.
