Senator received Cozens from Sabers, Gilbert & Draft Chore vros Norris, Bernard – Docker – Hockey Writer – Trade Deadline

The Ottawa Senators have acquired forward Dylan Cozens, defensive Dennis Gilbert, and a 2026 second-round draft pick from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Josh Norris and Jacob Bernard-Docker.

This sensational deal is by far the largest, with some good talent exchange venues. Senators helped their chances in playoff benches, while Saber brings new faces that could provide a much-needed makeover next season.

Senators stare at the playoffs

Cozens is also known as the Whitehorse main force because of his work ethics as a 24-year-old center and a player over 60. Since 68 points were scored in 2022-23, the Cozens’ slowdown has declined, with only 47 points last season and has now scored a pace with 42 points this season. His production cuts may suggest that both Cozens and Sabers want to swap things with.

The Cozens will be the second-tier center for the Senators, now giving them a fist of so cozens and Stutzle once or twice. The 2019 seventh draft pick facilitated the Senators’ offensive game in a variety of ways. Cozens is a powerful two-way player with speed, deadly shots, a trick to get inside and before the net, and is not afraid to use his framework to complete the check. All-rounders like the Cozens were built for the playoffs, and that’s exactly what the Senators need.

Dennis Gilbert is unlikely to join the Senator in the playoffs, but if injured, the defensive player who makes him seventh or eighth place is not injured.

If you’re a Senator fan, there’s a lot to look forward to, and in addition to adding players like the Cozens and Deep Defenders, the Senator’s general manager has managed to get a second round pick.

Sabre shakes things

Losing spring changes is difficult, especially considering that he has the potential to reach 70 points in a season. However, after two seasons of slow production, it is no surprise that Saber is willing to move forward. Not to mention, Sabers seem to be unable to move forward to the playoffs, and the rewards they receive can work well in the future, as both Norris and Bernard-Docker are first-round picks.

Norris is a center and a validated goal score. He has more than 30 goals twice in his career and he will immediately have a direct impact on Saber’s offense. Norris’s problem is that he can’t stay healthy. Having dealt with many injuries over the past few seasons, he may be at a higher risk of being eliminated at some point.

Bernard-Docker played a full-time NHL role last season and recorded four goals and 14 points in 72 games. This season, he played 25 games, scored 1 goal and 4 points. With the drafting in 2018, he has not yet completely escaped the way the senators hoped, and injuries played a role in it. He is known for his outstanding mobility and offensive talent, especially at the quarterback.

It was interesting that the Saber also gave up the second round pick due to health issues with Norris and Docker Bring. Still, it’s a considerable trade that may end up putting a lot of effort on both sides.
