PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Lanto Griffin holed a 40-foot putt for eagle on the first hole to shoot a 7-under 63 in the final round of Q-School and become one of six players to win The leader among players on the PGA Tour card next year.
Griffin finished with a medal at 9-under 271, but the PGA Tour has undergone drastic changes as it begins in 2025, including smaller fields and, most importantly, a rise in Top five and tied for official status.
Hayden Buckley (67) and former world number one Japanese amateur Takumi Kanaya (69) also made the cut. Kanaya made 8-foot par putts on the final two holes.
Immediately behind were Argentine players Alejandro Tosti (66), Will Chandler (66) and Matthew Riddell (72), who shot a total of 276, lower than Par 4.
Chandler looked like he was running out of time until he shot a 30 on the back nine on the Someya Course at TPC Sawgrass. That included a 45-foot eagle putt on the 16th hole that paved the way to a PGA Tour card.
Riddle had his share of nervous moments. When he teed off the tough par-4 17th, he was right at the cutoff, then turned left and jumped along the bank toward the water. But thick Bermuda kept the match dry and Riddle managed to make par.
On the final hole, Liddell hit his tee shot far out of the water to the left. He was well off the green, chipping 4 feet from the cup. His card's par putt narrowly landed on the left side of the cup.
Alistair Docherty, who was tied for the lead heading into the fourth and final round, didn't make a birdie until the 17th hole. He still had to play one more time to get his first PGA Tour card, but he worked his way over the green. He shot 73 and missed by one shot.
Players who do not receive cards will have different levels of status in the Korn Ferry Tour.
