The Calgary Flames have announced an interim coaching appointment involving the Flames and Calgary Wranglers coaching staffs.
Due to family reasons, on December 8, Flems assistant coach Brad Larson Granted indefinite leave. Wrangler head coach Trent Carr He will join the Flames as an assistant coach for the foreseeable future. Carr, who is in his second season as the Wranglers' bench coach, is a 15-year AHL veteran who served as an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks through the 2022-23 season.
“Our priority is to provide ongoing support to Brad and his family during a time when they need it most,” said General Manager Flemes. Craig Conroy. “While Brad remains with his family, we are making these temporary changes to our coaching staff to ensure our team and development program have the resources they need to perform well. Wrangler Assistant Coach Joe Cirella Will serve as head coach of the AHL club on an interim basis, joining the following: Martin Gilinas Side by side as an assistant Brett Sutter. Cirella has over 20 years of coaching experience between the OHL and AHL. The Wranglers' interim championship will be his first as head coach.
Gelinas has been a member of the Flames' development staff for the past four years and served as an assistant behind the Flames' bench from 2012 to 2021.
