Lucas Glover was ranked 50th in this year's final world rankings, making him one of 10 players invited to compete in the Masters.
There are eight more players in the field than a year ago.
The Masters will select the top 50 players in the official World Golf Ranking at the end of the calendar year and will select the top 50 players in the world rankings who have not yet been invited one week before the tournament, which takes place April 10-13.
With the addition of these 10 players, the number of players eligible and expected to compete reaches 85. A year ago at this time, 77 players were eligible, a disparity that points to a weaker field for the PGA Tour's fall FedExCup.
The Masters has the smallest number of participants among the four majors, and Augusta National hopes to keep the number of participants below 100 in order to provide players with a distinctive experience. The last time there were 100 players was in 1966, when there were 103 players.
A total of 89 players participated in this year's Masters.
Glover has fallen out of the top 50 in the past few weeks, but the ranking is based on a formula that measures the gradual loss of value in points over a two-year period.
No. 21 Tom Kim is the highest-ranked player yet to advance. Others entering the world rankings include Nick Dunlap, Max Greiserman, Rasmus Hoggard, Jason Day, Corey Connors, Danny McCarthy, Justin Rose and Min-woo Lee.
This is the second consecutive year that McCarthy and Lee have secured Masters berths through the year-end world rankings. Neither has won on the PGA Tour.
A year ago, four players from 77 teams qualified at the end of the year and earned invitations by winning fall PGA Tour events. This year, all eight fall champions were ineligible when they won the tournament.
Five of the fall champions – Matt McCarty, Kevin Yu, Nico Echavarria, Rafael Campos and Maverick McNeely – will be competing in the Masters for the first time.
The PGA Tour is back on its 2024 schedule, with several major events, including the Olympics, squeezed into the schedule. Most of the top players have been out of action on the PGA Tour for the last three months of the year.
The Masters will add the Latin American Amateur Championship winner, any PGA Tour winner offering FedEx Cup points and the top 50 players in the world rankings announced on March 31.
Augusta National also has the option of using a special invitation. Last year it offered three, including LIV Golf's Joaquín Niemann, who triumphed at the Australian Open and notched another top result in Australia for the worldwide competition .
Denmark's Torbjorn Olsen also received a special invitation as he mainly competes on the European Tour. Historically, the club has not been as favorable to PGA Tour members because they have more avenues of entry.
One player who missed the top 50 was Nicolai Hojgaard, who shot a 76 on the final day of Augusta National this year to finish tied for 16th. Hoygaard competed in the 2023 Ryder Cup, but missed out on qualifying for the Masters by one stroke among the top 12 players.
His twin brother Rasmus Hojgaard will make his debut in April.
