Dream Team: Djokovic and Kyrgios to team up in Brisbane
The 26-year-old Australian, currently ranked 12th in the doubles rankings, admitted breaching Article 2.2 of the TADP regarding the use of prohibited methods and requested a provisional ban on December 10, 2024.
ITIA said in a statement that the suspension will begin on December 12, 2024, and the time of the temporary suspension of services will be counted towards any future sanctions.
During the interim suspension, Purcell is prohibited from playing, coaching or participating in any tennis event authorized or sanctioned by members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, French Tennis Federation, Wimbledon and the United States Tennis Association) or in any Other tennis events.
ITIA did not specify which substance Purcell admitted to using.
Purcell posted on Instagram that he was taking intravenous vitamins beyond the “permissible limit.”
Purcell and compatriot Jordan Thompson won the U.S. Open doubles title just months after losing in the Wimbledon doubles final.
