Things aren't going the way Stephen Curry hoped for with the Golden State Warriors, which is why he and his teammates held a players-only meeting before the Warriors' Christmas Day game against the Lakers.
Curry himself seemed inspired by the conversation, as he scored a Christmas-best 38 points, but it wasn't enough to secure victory.
The meeting comes after the storied team has lost 11 of its last 14 games.
“This is obviously an inflection point in where our season can go,” Curry said. (via ESPN). “Our last 14 games, trying to find any type of momentum or consistency has been difficult and through that, you can't lose spirit and belief that we are a good enough team to figure it out because of this The Alliance is ruthless.
“This coalition changes over time what you can rely on, and when you dig yourself a hole like this, sometimes it's hard to pull out. So we're in this window, no matter how much time we have until the election. Week, we can still regain some momentum. [All-Star] Breakthrough is the key, otherwise [we are] In a situation where we are playing catch-up. No one wants to go there.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr also commented on the team's morale during this difficult downturn.
“We're frustrated,” Kerr said. “Everyone is disappointed. We have lost some confidence. You can feel it. We had a good atmosphere at the beginning of the season and now we are experiencing that feeling.
“But I love our guys, guys of high character. They care. They care about each other. I believe in them. I believe we're going to turn this around, so it's all part of this season and part of life.
Kerr, Curry and Draymond Green have said multiple times that they feel the Warriors are still capable of winning and will come out of their slump.
“I remain hopeful, confident and confident that we can solve this problem,” Curry said. “So, that's my character. I feel like you go out and talk about it, but how you execute, how you show up every night, the effort that we put in, even considering our record over the last little while, this is a team that's desperate Yeah, trying to figure it out. It just hasn't gone our way yet. So, yeah, you have to keep that mindset until things change.
