As the days pass by, the time to watch MS Dhoni in action becomes less and less. The former Indian national cricket team captain was recently confirmed to play next season as he will represent the Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL).

MS Dhoni has been retained as an uncapped player by Chennai Super Kings and will be paid a fee of INR 4 crore per season. All attention will be on him as he has struggled with health over the past two seasons and is nursing a knee injury after the 2023 season.

But the struggle is evident even in IPL 2024 and it is for this reason that he declined the order. Last season, he played all the games, averaging 54 points in 14 games with a shooting percentage of 220.54. As he prepares to play another season, the focus will be on his health.

Talking about his health, MS Dhoni admitted that he is not as fit as he used to be. He stressed that he has been playing different sports to keep himself fit for cricket. Discussing his fitness on Eurogrip tires YouTube channel, he explains:

“I'm not as fit as I used to be, it takes a lot of effort now with what I eat, and I'm doing some very specific things to adapt to cricket. We're not fast bowlers, so our demands are not so drastic.”

“What helps me is doing a lot of exercise in between eating and going to the gym. So whenever I have time, I like to do a lot of different sports, maybe tennis, badminton or football, and that keeps me focused. It It’s the best way to get into fitness.

Speaking further about cricket, MS Dhoni said that the best way for a batsman to play the game is to react to whatever ball is bowled to them.

“You first need to differentiate between what is controllable. If you start making things complicated then it becomes difficult to understand that. Like cricket, people talk about what cricket is and then you come up with different explanations. One of the best ways for a batsman to play cricket is to look at the ball and react to whatever is thrown at you,”

“For me, the controllable things in cricket are I have to practice well, I have to eat well, I have to stay fit, how much sleep I get before the game, how much water I drink, how much I try to Opposition.
