Scottie Scheffler's 2025 PGA Tour season debut will have to wait.

The world No. 1 announced on Instagram on Monday that he would withdraw from next week's American Express to continue rehabbing a hand injury he sustained while preparing Christmas dinner.

“After consultation with my medical team, I have decided to withdraw from next week's American Express Championship to give my injury more time to heal,” Scheffler wrote. “I still hope to start my 2025 season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.”

Scheffler was stabbed in the right hand while preparing Christmas dinner. After an injury forced him to withdraw from the season-opening Sentinel Tournament, Hideki Matsuyama won the event in historic fashion over the weekend.

Scheffler's manager, Blake Smith, said last month that Scheffler's expected recovery time is three to four weeks. This coincides with The American Express, scheduled for January 16-19 in La Quinta, California.

“On Christmas Day, while preparing dinner, Scottie was stabbed by broken glass in the palm of his right hand. A small shard of glass remained in the palm and required surgery,” Smith said in a Dec. 27 statement. He was told he should be in Return to 100% in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to quit the Sentinels. His next scheduled event is the American Express.

Scheffler won seven PGA Tour titles and nine World Championships during the season, including a victory at the Masters and an Olympic gold medal.

The 28-year-old also joins Tiger Woods as the only players to win the PGA Tour Player of the Year award in three consecutive seasons and finished third behind Woods in the PGA Tour's final Player Impact Program. Two.

Scheffler now hopes to make his debut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am from January 30 to February 2. 2. Scheffler finished tied for sixth in this event last season. This will be the second iconic event on the 2025 schedule.
