Dave Pannotta: “I think that's part of the reason for the hesitancy to move either guy, because I think they feel like they have a good chance here. If they're healthy, if (Thache (El) Demko is healthy as well, so I think they feel like they can at least run with the team on paper again.
Like this isn't something that just came out of the blue, this has been going on almost since these two's first season together. There's a bit of animosity there for whatever reason, and it might just be two different types of personalities clashing. But things escalated, but last season they were able to do their best to contain the situation, I mean, last year, they thought they had a chance to chase a championship as well, a legitimate chance.

They competed with the Oilers in the playoffs. So, I mean, they still generally feel like they're in that room and if everything is calm, they can keep running. That's why it would be difficult for the Canucks front office to initiate trades for these two, especially in the middle of the season.
In the perfect world they say, let bygones be bygones. They don't have to eat together every day, hang out, but at least they can get along, the environment in the room will be less stressful, etc. I don't know if it's going to accomplish that, which is part of the reason they're exploring options. But again, they have to get the maximum return, and the return has to be one that keeps them a contender. This will be the difficult part of leading these discussions.
