No one can question John Daley's quality and influence, his performances and his unorthodox approach to sport are breathtaking.
The 58-year-old has had a career that most golfers can only dream of, with a talent that made him a double major champion with victories at the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 British Open.
He has had an admirable longevity, winning five PGA Tour titles, PGA Rookie of the Year and Comeback of the Year awards while occasionally hanging with the best players.
However, despite Daly's undisputed success, his match preparation and on-field antics often raised eyebrows.
It's safe to say that Daly does not, and probably never has, adopt the traditional body, health and mind-first approach of many successful Tour players.
However, the long-time pro's approach is definitely working for him, as his amazing pregame warmups continue to yield results…
The social media icon's unconventional warm-up includes…
- Batting for 20 minutes (although this is not always the case)
- push a little
- smoke five cigarettes
- Drink three glasses of Diet Coke
On the PGA Tour, Daly is often seen drinking Diet Coke and eating Snickers bars to replenish energy, which is definitely not the typical eating habit of a professional golfer.
The legendary American icon claims he drank 13 cans of Diet Coke on the course while playing in the 2007 PGA Championship, where he shot a first-round 67.
In addition to golf, which has taken him as high as No. 23 in the world, Daly has turned to music, a side project that has seen him release three studio albums.
His colorful outfits, booming drive and unconventional demeanor made him a fan favorite throughout his career, and his authenticity earned him praise through the ups and downs.
