Tiger Woods lost miserably on Tuesday night, but his loss is still more attractive to sports fans than the NBA.

Woods' first game on TGL was watched by more than 1 million viewers, a 9% increase from the league's first game last week and more viewers than the NBA had on TNT.

For the second week in a row, TGL played Woods' Jupiter Links Golf Club in a lopsided match, losing 12-1 to Los Angeles Golf Club. Although in a new virtual golf league, this marks Woods' first competitive golf appearance since losing the Open Championship last July.

According to the Sports Business Journal, Tuesday's game peaked at 1.13 million viewers between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m. ET. The game technically ends at 8:50pm, with the telecast ending at 9:18pm

The Cavaliers-Pacers game on TNT drew 956,000 viewers, followed by the Nuggets-Mavericks game starting at 9:35 p.m., which drew 853,000 viewers. The audience almost doubled. ESPN then aired the men's basketball game, SBJ reported.

TGL provides an overall boost to ESPN's time slot. Last year's Syracuse-Pitt men's basketball game in the same window drew 566,000 viewers.

Woods' team kicked off TGL's inaugural season with its second straight defeat, following Bay Golf Club's 9-2 victory over New York Golf Club on January 7. The tournament attracted nearly 1 million viewers, more viewers than any LIV Golf broadcast on the CW in the past two years.

Woods' team will have a chance for quick redemption when it takes on Boston Common Golf in the first event of Rory McIlroy's team on Jan. 27.

The 15-game regular season will run through March 4, followed by the playoffs later that month.
