Five California-based teams in the American Hockey League — the Bakersfield Condors, Coachella Valley Firebirds, Ontario Reigns, San Diego Gulls and San Jose Barracudas — announced efforts to collect donated items and support the Los Angeles wildfires. Affected people raise relief funds.

Last week, the Firebirds and the One Valley Foundation committed $10,000 to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation to help those affected by wildfires. During Sunday afternoon's game, the One Valley Foundation raised an additional $7,000 through an in-game auction.

The team has also held a series of donation drives outside Acrisure Arena this week, including ahead of tonight's game against Henderson. Fans are encouraged to donate much-needed items including baby diapers, phone chargers, socks, deodorant, toothpaste, dry shampoo, blankets and new pillows, as well as non-carbonated drinks, cases of water and food items such as Gatorade and dog food , crackers, trail mix, fruit snacks, energy bars, explosive tuna, and chicken and protein snacks.

Starting Tuesday, 50% of all individual ticket sales from this Thursday’s Firebirds game (whether purchased online or in person) will go toward fire relief and recovery efforts.
