Aho Nets win in overtime, Hurricanes beat Blackhawks 4-3 – Hockey Writer – Carolina Hurricanes

Sebastian Aho scored in overtime to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 4-3 victory, and the Chicago Blackhawks once again squandered an early lead.

The Blackhawks struck first when Philipp Kurashev took a pass from Seth Jones and flipped the puck past Hurricanes goaltender Fredrik Andersen. His 500th career game. He became the first Danish goalkeeper and seventh player to achieve this feat.

Anderson, who came off the injured list last Friday, played in the game for the first time since Oct. 26.

The Blackhawks extended their lead on a goal from Tyler Bertuzzi until Seth Jarvis and Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored to tie the Hurricanes. Jacob Slavin tied with Justin Faulk for most assists in his 24th game with the Hurricanes with Carolina's two goals Becomes the third-most defensive player in franchise history.

Ryan Donato scored with less than a minute left in the second period to give the Blackhawks the lead heading into the second intermission.

Jordan Staal caught the ball near the net to tie the game with just over six minutes left in the third quarter and score his 700th career point.

Staal also played his 1,300th NHL game tonight. He is the eighth active player to reach this milestone, joining Ryan Suter, Brent Burns, Alex Ovechkin, Anze Kopitar, Corey Payne Lee, Sidney Crosby, and Mark Edward Vlasic. He is the 74th player in NHL history to reach this milestone and the first player from the 2006 draft class.

Martin Necas delivered a beautiful cross-ice pass to set up Aho's winning goal, his fourth overtime winner of the season.
