The final round of the Player Championship stopped Sunday at 1:15 p.m., due to a storm at Ponte Vedera Beach, Florida, and it is not clear when the restart will be restarted.
The game has begun, starting in one third of Sunday, hoping to avoid shutdowns. However, as the leader was on the 11th hole, the sound rang.
“We’ve been reviewing this weather for three to four days and it looks like the storm will be very intense,” Stephen Cox, a PGA Tour Rules official, told PGATOUR.com on Saturday.
Rory McIlroy led the way in a stroke and hit the 12th hole during the shutdown. McIlroy’s stroke was 54-hole leader JJ Spaun, while Tom Hoge, Akshay Bhatia and Danny Walker were two.
“Obviously, our preferred desire is to have a T-shirt in two (body), which is an awkward balance we face,” Cox told pgatour.com. “As they said, if we do roll dice and try to hit a T-shirt in two (Somes), it’s easy for us to find ourselves at the end of Monday.”
