Cole Palmer missed training and stayed at Chelsea for injury treatment

Cole Palmer has not yet played against England ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia due to injury.

Palmer was named Thomas Tuchel’s first goal on Friday’s first team, but then continued muscle problems the day before the game, beating Chelsea’s Premier League defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The 22-year-old missed training for three lions today, although it has not been officially withdrawn.

A brief statement on the England website said: “MU21 Trio Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adam Wharton and Liam Delap will join the senior players of 26 players for training at St. George’s Park this afternoon.

“Cole Palmer stayed at Chelsea to further assess the damage he had been trained before his game at Arsenal last Sunday.”

The mare doesn’t want it

Chelsea owner Enzo Maresca said he didn’t think Palmer would be a good fit when asked about his supply after the UAE match.

The Italian said: “I don’t think so [he will be fit for England] to be honest.

“His injury was yesterday’s meeting. It was a muscular issue and the scan was planned to be done Monday morning.”
