Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman joined the Sirius XM NHL network radio station with Scott Laughlin and Gord Stellick in the morning skateboarding competition and was asked about GM’s meeting. NHL Rumors: 2025 NHL Drafts, Toronto Maple Leafs and Timothy Leyeglen
Gord Stellick: “But, since you’re in Florida, I drove to Scott, Elliotte yesterday, who did this day in hockey history.
So, I don’t know of other Scuttlebutts. Is everyone happy with the status of the game? Are they talking about what happened? I mean, whether the playoffs are being expanded. I mean, you are getting any type of lean meat, almost any transaction that happens or anything that can happen. ”
Elliotte Friedman: “Well, I’ll say that, it doesn’t sound like Goddy. Like today’s meeting ended about an hour and the commissioner was going to speak after that and remember last year, I think there were seven rules that were successfully suggested, and not all of them happened, but I remember those people coming out. But, they didn’t come out, wow, they didn’t do a lot of things.
Like, one thing I want to know, I know they kind of talk about it, and it’s increasing before they get here, they’re talking about 3-on-3 over-the-clock because in Canada in four countries – Sweden OT, here (Mitch) Marner won the overtime championship. But that really doesn’t sound like any motivation. So, I don’t know we’re going to see a lot in terms of rule changes.
Decentralizing NHL draft picks is a bad idea
One thing I think I talked about last night on my hit songs is that I was curious to see if this scattered draft would be a miracle of the year. I began to think that’s it. The commissioners made it very clear that he did this at the General Motors meeting in November, and apparently, he did it again yesterday, and he said, remember, this is your decision, it is very clear that he doesn’t quite agree.
He said he didn’t want it to be a trigger. He said no matter what we decide after this year, we will stick with it. So, there is definitely a feeling that Goddy has, especially on the sphere last year, I know we won’t be going to the stadium again, but it’s a big success and I think someone uses this sentence to make the buyer feel remorseful to me yesterday.
I’d love to know if this draft ends up being a one-year deal. ”

NHL Rumor: CBA, Cut NHL Draft into Four Rounds, LTIR
According to Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects, there is no unanimous vote to be turned back to the center-wide draft.
Another point about the NHL may return to a comprehensive centralized draft in the future.
I spoke with a league source who denied rumors in the industry that GM had to vote unanimously to overturn the far-flung draft.
