Carolina Hurricanes become aggressive in the offseason in the case of Mikko Rantanen

Rantanen’s other serious bidders are the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, Utah Hockey Club, Calgary Flames, Calgary Flames and Anaheim Ducks with less interest. Hurricanes are looking for something that can help them this season, not just everything based on the future.

“There are some futures on the table,” Tarski confirmed. “There are some quotes on the table, and current players we don’t feel like helping us like Logan. Ultimately, if the value doesn’t exist, we’ll run with Mikko.”

When asked about their salary cap space, Tarsky would be aggressive in the offseason.

“Yes, my first two off-seasons as GM will be very different,” Tarski said. “The first year was trying to get everyone to push our $20 million out of the cap. This year, we might be able to keep everyone and make up $20 million below the cap. So it’s a very different situation. It gives us a different opportunity to take a step this summer.”
