Alexander-Arnold’s Carragher is “disappointed” as Real Madrid’s move is closer to the edge and suggests Liverpool Exit improves his “brand”

Jamie Carragher said Trent Alexander-Arnold was “disappointed” to leave Liverpool and suggested that his reported move to Real Madrid was to improve his “brand.”
Reports said the Reds right-back was eager to join Real when his contract expired this summer, even suggesting that Anfield Hero had reached a five-year contract to move to Bernabeu.
The news is not good news for fans, who criticized the Liverpool-born defender for wanting to leave the club and how he exited it would leave the club for free.
Carragher “disappointed” in Trent
Now, Pundit and former player Carragher have spent their entire career at Anfield, and the 47-year-old said Alexander-Arnold believes he must find somewhere else to compete for the biggest prize.
He said at the insistence of the football podcast: “Where am I, a local player and a Liverpool fan, who is in the position of competing for the league and the European Cup every year.
“So if you’re a Liverpool fan and a local player, I’m just disappointed that he doesn’t think that’s what it is.
“I put myself in his position and I think we can keep our level with Manchester United in the league trophy, I have another seven or eight years at Liverpool and hope to be three to four years ahead of them, and a few European Cups.”
Carragher: Real moves to promote Trent’s brand
Alexander-Arnold played a key role when Liverpool looks were set to win the Premier League with Arne Slot this season, but he talked about his desire to win the Ballon d’Or in the past.
Carragher believes the 26-year-old wants to move to the Spanish Giants to build his own personal follower.
“I think Trent is a player who looks like a brand almost like a brand, and that’s not only him, but a lot of players do it now,” he explained.
“I went back to his interview at Sky Sports before Christmas, where he had five choices, and he chose this is the most important choice for you – Liverpool captain, winning the Champions League with Liverpool, winning the World Cup with England, or winning the ball D’OR – he chose Ballon d’Or.
“He wants to be the first defender to win the Ballon d’Or, and there is nothing wrong with ambitions, but Liverpool supporters aren’t particularly good.”

Carragher: The reaction is already “toxic”
Carragher said he knew the negative reactions to the news that Alexander-Arnold wanted to leave, but insisted that such a move was part of the game.
“No one seems to be unhappy with people – it’s free, or he should come out early to tell the club – people are angry about three or four things,” Carragher added.
“I’m not angry with his freedom. In an ideal world, Liverpool will get a reinvestment of £70m or £80m, but you can’t support it in both directions.
“If Liverpool signs someone for free in the summer, we’ll all be happy, does that mean his former club should absolutely hate him?
“Also, when you’re a local player, you don’t spend anything – Trent plays for free just like Virgil Van Dijk left for £75m and we’re still going to break down.”
