Why Tiger Woods faces John Smoltz in baseball

At his peak, Tiger Woods seemed invincible on the golf course. But that doesn’t mean he was unparalleled in all the sports of his peak years. He learned this lesson when he faced with Major League Baseball Hall of Fame John Smoltz in live batting practice.

How it happens

The story began in the early 2000s when Smoltz was in the second half of his all-time career with the Braves, where Woods was on the premier golf course of all time.

Smoltz revealed that the Tiger already knew he wanted to hit him, and he was called Tiger when Smoltz threw a simulation game in an empty Braves Stadium.

He always wanted to face me and didn’t know how we would achieve this. But I happen to have a recovery simulation game where there is no one in the stadium. I said, ‘Hey Tiger, you’re lucky if you want to face me, no one will be there, the team is on the road, I’ll pitch on the road, I can share a ball or two. “He’s gone, ‘That’s great.'”

Tiger is Smoltz’s only rule

So the tiger headed to Atlanta and the couple had already made a fight. But before they begin, Tiger explicitly sets an important rule for Smoltz: Give me everything you have.

“We set it up, and he knew, ‘The first rule…give me all you have. Don’t stop it,'” Smoltz said.

But Smoltz is worried about hurting one of the greatest golfers of all time.

“I said, ‘Tiger, this is a deal, I’m not worried about hitting you, I’m just worried about your thumb getting stuck when you hit.

This doesn’t seem to care about the tiger, by then he had completed the Tiger Grand Slam and was on the way to 15 major victories.

Why are the tiger angry

“Well, he’s a great athlete, he’s taken the batting practice, he’s gotten there, like I thought I could advance in the Masters for the past year. No chance,” Smoltz explained.

But at the end of the hit, Smoltz broke a clear rule for Tiger, which Tiger was not happy with.

“At the end of the bat, I gave him a fastball that he could play. When he found out he was really angry,” Smallz revealed. “But he announced himself 1-4. So I let him roll.

“That was probably after 2000, when I transitioned to maybe the beginning. He was wearing a complete uniform and we got the photos. You know it was an explosion.”
