Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo said “no one” hopes his club will play in the Champions League after Monday night’s latest huge win at Tottenham Hotspur.
Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood scored in London as Forest responded to the victory from Manchester City, Chelsea and Aston Villa over the weekend to climb back to third place.
Their season will even get better when they return to London to compete in the FA Cup semi-finals against Manchester City on Sunday.
“First of all, we have to realize that we are in a fight where no one expected, including us, which is normal, but I don’t want to prove that no one is wrong,” Nuno said.
“We can’t thank the fans very much.” ❤️

“It’s about us. We have a great desire for competition and the players to enjoy. We are one with a large team and that only makes us proud.
“We have a challenge. We’re going to be ahead of a big week, we’re going to compete against a big team, and there’s a lot of games. As long as we keep this approach and the competition is good, you’ll never know.”
Cross Tottingham made progress after Wood was ghosted between Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, but Mathys Tel and Richarlison were wasted the first half before Dejan Kulusevski’s 59th minute header was made by Harry Toffolo.
Matz Sels then thwarted Richarlison twice before the Brazilian striker Pedro Porro with three minutes left left, but the Forest kept on.
Nuno added: “Of course the last few minutes were filled with anxiety and hopefully time was faster, and Tottenham compared us to the ropes.
“We are proud of the way we compete.
“I think the team competed well at the start of the game, we achieved our goal, and we dominate even if there is no ball trying to contain Tottenham.
“Even if they have a chance, we have another high-level mat, Harry Toffolo’s clearance, but that’s the spirit.”
