
The Dallas star defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-2 on Monday night before returning to Denver for a chance to eliminate the avalanche in Game 6.
Wyatt Johnston, Thomas Harley, Mikko Rantanen, Mason Marchment and Roope Hintz scored for the stars. Jake Oettinger made 26 saves.

Artturi Lehkonen and Nathan Mackinnon scored for the avalanche. Mackenzie Blackwood paused 13 times and Scott Wedgewood relaxed 8 times.
Game review
Johnston scored the fastest opening goal in team history, opening Game 5, shooting from behind the goal line and Blackwood for nine seconds, giving Dallwood a 1-0 lead.
Harley doubled the lead in a 19:15 wrist shot, which was shot directly in the air by Blackwood, landed on his back and crossed the red line.
In the 72 seconds of the second stage, Rantanen finally scored his long-awaited first goal against his old club and playoffs as he beat Blackwood with a 2-on-1 pass on a block at Roope Hintz.
The avalanche finally made a past Oettinger with Lehkonen’s redirection on top of the crease at 12:11.
Mackinnon lowered the lead by 3-2 from the slot’s wrist shot at 14:38.
Johnston won his second in the power play after Duchene set up a post at the bottom of the left circle.
At 18:32, Dallas’s three-ball lead recovered after the parade was shot from Alexander Petrovic.
Hintz beat the 6-2 victory with an empty grid at 17:55.
The Avalanche surpassed the Stars by 28-27 and 3-0 in the power game. Stars have a 4-4 advantage.
