Landing at the isolation point? These 3 keys will help you clean it

There are few things like filling one in the middle of the fairway, just finding your ball so messy in an old divorcee. It’s a painful and frustrating reminder that even good shots can get bad.

While you might be tempted to leave behind “friendly” Didi, you don’t have to. With a few handy keys, you can capture the ball like a pro and perform this photo – even earning some respect from the weekly foursome, which you linger long after you finish the drink.

In the latest episode of Maddi’s Caddies, Golf 100 teachers, Joey Wuertemberger, breaks these three keys and you’ll need to hit this seemingly tricky shot. Follow to understand what they are.

Move the ball backwards

“This will be the first goal,” Walter Dembert said.

He said moving the ball back to your position will facilitate the ball to get first contact, which will help you capture these shots clean.

Open your stance and club

Wuertemberger explains that a farther backward retrench will result in your shots being less effective. However, you can offset this by modifying the settings.

“You can adjust by opening the stance and opening the club a little,” he said.

For Righties, this means setting your foot slightly left side to the target line.

The batting is coming

The last key to perfectly hitting this shot is to make a more lower strike on the ball. Wuertemberger says you can make two adjustments to the settings, which will facilitate a more downward angle of attack.

1. Tilt the axis towards the target – This encourages you to hit the ball first.

2. Set the weight slightly forward – Think of 60/40 forefoot/trail foot. This promotes the first contact of the ball and can help you avoid “hanging” by impact, which can be harmful to your contact.

Now you have some practice ready. Doing so, Wuertemberger says, make sure you have enough hinges in the rear. This will promote a steeper attack angle, which is just swinging to think you need to perform this shot with confidence.
