Aston Villa hopes they will be looking to finish the top five Premier League top five after Youri Tielemans’ goal proved to be different from Villa Park’s Fulham.
Tiemans headed for 12 minutes from a corner of John McGinn to make sure Unai Emery’s team stayed on the table with Chelsea and Nottingham Forest points.
It was a crucial three-pointer for Emery who hoped to return to the Champions League in the final eight games of the season, but the hosts missed a few good opportunities to get the game to play with a frustrating afternoon with House fans.
Meanwhile, Fulham’s failure is likely to undermine their dreams of European football. Marco Silva’s team is currently in eighth place, but the result means they are now eight points in seventh Villa.

Villas have made a good start in key games

Five minutes later, Fulham provided the ball on Villa’s net network by Ryan Sessegnon, but the goal was excluded from handball.
Visitors are only behind Liverpool and Manchester City, with most points earned by their failed positions this semester joining the competition.
Harry Wilson wasted some promising opportunities before Watkins had a great chance to give Villa a good lead, but Leno was the same.
