As expected within 20 minutes of Game 7’s start, the first phase was a tense check and close to the vest. The Avalanche beat Stars 5-4 and killed an early free throw against Parker Kelly. The star killed the double small amount of Valeri Nichushkin who cross-checked in the face by Jamie Benn.

The Avalanche broke the tie with a 2-to-1 short position at 9:50 in the second phase. After the Star flipped the puck on the ticket to the offensive zone, Logan O’Connor led the 2-on-1 Stormtrooper to find Manson breaking into the right. After Manson appeared, the hockey popped out of the oettinger and dripped into the net.

Entering the third second of 31, Mackinnon jumped off the bench on the extra attacker and drove the puck past Oettinger for a 2-0 lead.

At 7:49, chaos ensued. Rantanen shot a wrist from the high slot until night, putting the stars on the board.
