Eric Staal joins Buffalo Saber
NHL: Eric Staal has been appointed as the special assistant to General Manager Kevyn Adams. Staal retired from the NHL last August after 18 seasons.
“When I looked for ways to strengthen my existing staff, I wanted to add a new perspective and direct experience to our group and the level of hockey I’ve won,” Adams said. “Eric was one of the first people I thought of when I first became General Manager, so he was the first member of this offseason. He did it all as a player and I know his experience and knowledge is invaluable to our team because we want to take the next step.”
NHL injury pointed out
Darrin Bauming: Dallas star forward Jason Robertson returned to the roster after missing the first round due to a low injury last night. He called 13:34.
Mike Zeisberger: Toronto Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube said he didn’t know if goalkeeper Anthony Stolarz would return at any time in the second round.
Lance Hornby: Auston Matthews has seen Stolarz see around the rink over the past few days: “He seems to feel much better. He’s been on the rink and stuff. It’s great to see him. We really didn’t want him to stalk him, just support him here. Hopefully he’ll be back here soon.”
Darrin Bauming: Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele has missed the roster for undisclosed injuries in the last two games. He was injured in the first phase of Game 5.
