“Do I have to be clearer?” Arteta defends the lack of signatures and says Arsenal is better than PSG again

Mikel Arteta said Arsenal was “crystal transparent” over Paris Saint-Germain despite their Champions League exit and responded to more questions about the Gunners failing to sign the striker during the January transfer window.

Arsenal dominated early in the second phase of the PSG semi-finals on Wednesday, then hitting half in either half to ensure Bukayo Saka’s late reply was just a 3-1 total defeat.

“100%,” Arteta replied when asked if he still thinks Arsenal is the better side. “I’m looking at it, I’m looking at all the statistics. It’s obvious.

“But it has nothing to do with the probability of winning or your strengths, it’s to make it happen and calculate it a problem. It’s clear that we’ll be better when you look at the important statistics that usually give you the best chance to win a football game.”

“So far, I don’t think there is a better team in the game.”

Arsenal transfer: “Not so many” strikers

Arsenal finished PSG’s 1.74 with 3.14, with 19 attempts in 30 goals in the second leg, but the French champion made 6 of 10 efforts on the target, resulting in a review of whether the lack of absent striker has a cost, thus inevitably reviewing the cost.

Forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were injured, while Saka was Arsenal’s top scorer in Europe, with six goals and no player doubled the score with his distant Premier League title battle. The Liverpool champion has a leading scorer in Mohamed Salah’s division.

“We’re a super team. I’m very, very positive about it. It’s easy for us to go to the Champions League final with these statistics and do the same thing.”

Arsenal visited Liverpool on Sunday (BST 16:30) in the first game of the final three games of the season.
