Chelsea must put their “total waste of money” axe

Chelsea lost 2-0 to rival Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday to lose 2-0 to the Champions League.

The Blues ranked fifth in the final Champions League, but only one point separates them from Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest on the table, a tense final two-game match.

As the highlights above show, Enzo Maresca’s team didn’t help when Nicolas Jackson decided to accuse the ball from Sven Botman.

Senegal International looked at the Dutch defender and moved his defender into the upper chest and underside of the Newcastle star while working to win an air duel, which led to VAR recommending the shooter’s red card.

Jackson will release the game in the last two Premier League seasons and the first of the 2025/26 season, which is a three-game violence that is a big blow to Bruce.

Why Losing Nicholas Jackson is a big blow to Chelsea

The former Villarreal star scored three goals in the first three games before heading to St. James’Park and returned to his goal in the barren game.

Before last month’s strike against Everton in the Premier League, Jackson scored 13 games in all Blues matches, dating back to mid-December.

However, goals against the Toffees and two goals against De Jurgarden in the conference league show that he plays a major role in the final games of the season.

There is no doubt that Jackson is a player and despite his tendency to miss out on “big opportunities,” he has the ability to make a big difference in Chelsea’s last third, as he has had many impressive moments since he moved to Stamford Bridge.

As you can see in the table above, the former Laliga star has been a wasteful finisher, missing 43 “big opportunities”, but he has also been directly involved in 34 goals from 65 Premier League clubs.

This shows that despite the flaws, Jackson is a constant threat to become a differentiator at the top of the court as a scorer or goal creator, which is why losing his suspension in the last two games of the campaign was a blow to Maresca.

The 23-year-old midfielder won a hat-trick against the Spurs last season, and he was the best option for Chelsea and proved he could score goals in the Premier League, so why he could be an option to enter the final two games.

Even worse for the Blues, Christopher Nkunku is currently injured and may get him out of the last two games if he doesn’t recover in time.

However, this is not the only problem for France International, as he also failed to provide quality when it fits this season, which is why the club must make ruthlessly this summer.

Why Chelsea must cash in on Christopher Nkunku

The Premier League paid £52 million to bring him to the Stamford Bridge in Leipzig in the summer of 2023, with the goal of strengthening the quality of their offensive scheme and offloading Kai Havertz to Arsenal that summer.

Nkunku scored 70 goals and provided Leipzig with 55 assists in 17 games in all his matches in Germany, making him an exciting signing as he has a history of delivering consistent quality in the European League.

Unfortunately, however, the French International has been unable to translate this form into British football in two seasons at Stamford Bridge so far as he has been working to make an impact in the last third of the Blues.

Former Chelsea player Craig Burley criticized the 27-year-old star, reportedly earning £195,000 a week and described him as a “waste money” after the club withdrew from Brighton earlier this year.

“The game is not at the forefront,” Burley said. [Cole] Palmer stopped affecting the game like he did. Nkunku ahead, I mean how wasteful he had been. ”

It’s hard to argue by evaluating Nkunku’s situation, as he doesn’t offer much quality on the court to make up for the £52m fee and £195,000 per week long players.

As you can see in the table above, the French loser has only played seven goals in 38 Premier League games since the start of last season and has been underperforming overall, indicating that he has performed even worse than Jackson in the past two campaigns.

The experienced striker did not achieve targets or assists regularly or semi-regularly in top flights, and although he was brought to London about two years ago, Senegal International provided at least 34 goals and assists.

Arsenal was linked to interest in Nkukuku before the summer transfer window, and Chelsea had to cash in on the big currency in order to recover the £52 million they paid on his service.

Given his lack of quality in the Premier League, French Dud’s performance is not enough to show that he will be a key player in Maresca’s advancement, which is why the club should ruthlessly abandon him this summer, whether against Arsenal or another club.
