Caleb Desnoyers’ draft stock is as always. The 6-foot-2 center is an excellent organizer with some of the best hockey IQs in the class, which is the main driver of his offensive results. He took his game to the next level in the playoffs during the regular season of the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). With the upside space in all three areas, his offensive ability can be selected for the best draft pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Starting with his regular season creation, Desnoyers recorded 35 goals and 49 assists in 56 games with 84 points. He ranked second in the QMJHL with a rate of 1.50 per game and number one among junior players. He is the fifth draft skater in at least 20 games in the past decade. It was recently obtained by Columbus Blue Jacket Foreground Jordan Dumais in 2021-22.

However, Denayes’ production soared in the playoffs, and his shooting percentage rose (19.9% to 22.0%) did not indicate that scoring was unsustainable. In 16 games, he not only led the QMJHL, but also had a historic 1.88 points game rate. Of the draft years that have played at least 10 playoff games this century, only Nathan McKinnon, Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Drewin and Yakub Vorachick have scored 1.80 points each, all in the top 7.

Desnoyers was able to put forward these numbers to a large extent, mainly because of his extremely deceptive way of playing. He can pass from anywhere on the ice, constantly seeking to find teammates in high-risk areas. The only slight knock here is that he can work hard to improve his passing efficiency. He is an adventurer in this way, but his failures usually lead to the clearance of the neutral zone. Despite this, the Desnoyers are super smart and skilled passers in the offensive area. He can thrive seriously in this field at the professional level.

Not just by making the Desnoyers an offensive threat. His shots aren’t that strong, but switching at nearly 20% efficiency in the regular season and playoffs has to mean something. That’s true, his hockey IQ is a bit shining here. He stuffed the hockey at the frontline of the network and targeted himself when the defense collapsed.

While Desnoyers’ offense is easy to revel in, he has his own offense in all three zones. His transition is strong, able to act as a hockey carrier and participate in it defensively. Although his frame might bypass some rounding, he still won the board battle, showing physical lapses. He may be more dominant, but these areas are areas that can feel good. Desnoyers is also an elite player.

It is believed that Desnoyers are not a high-end prospect. This is not the case. He is arguably the smartest mind in the 2025 grade, which makes him very productive and effective in all three areas.
