Hurricane wins round 2 4-1 after Game 5 of 3-1, defeating the Capital – Hockey Writer – Carolina Hurricane

The Carolina Hurricanes will enter the Eastern Conference Finals after defeating the Washington Capitals 3-1. After winning the first round in five games, the Hurricanes once again won their fifth win in the second round, 4-1 at Washington, D.C. Carolina for the third time since 2019. I guess, boring hockey wins the game – and series – how the Hurricane rolls now.

Game review

Just like Game 4, the Hurricanes led the first phase due to a goal from Jordan Staal. This is Captain Hurricane’s Unreal Sniper, as he just got it hardly above the post/bar at the far end. Logan Thompson cannot save. This was Starr’s first goal in the playoffs, and it was a huge goal. The first period went back and forth from the two teams, and as the period lost, the hurricanes decreased. However, the Carolina lead lasted only about four minutes, but Anthony Beauvillier was able to mess up lift Jaccob Slavin with his pass. He was able to pick up the puck and slide it between Frederik Andersen’s legs to lead the game 1-1.

Logan Stankoven scored almost empty nets on Thompson’s hockey with less than a minute left in the first stage. Unfortunately for Hurricanes, Thompson was somehow able to return to the puck with few sticks to make it wide. The period ended with a 1-1 score, with the Hurricane defeating the capital 7-4.

In the second phase, we saw some close opportunities from both sides. The capital’s Matt Roy scored his second goal for the home team. However, it was recalled due to Connor McMichael’s offside. Seth Jarvis had three seconds left during this time, and the field was almost one goal ahead, but the puck was taken off the crossbar. With a second time left in a while, the hurricane was turned away just a few inches.

As the Capital and Hurricanes are looking for the next goal that may win the game, the opportunity in the third stage has a tense exchange with both sides. As the game progresses, it seems neither side can take advantage of their opportunities. However, with 1:59 left in the second phase, Andrei Svechnikov was able to find enough room to shoot and pass Thompson. His eighth goal in the lead playoffs put the Hurricanes 2-1. Even though the goal is huge, there is still too much time to celebrate. Thankfully, Jarvis was able to freeze the game with an empty net goal.

The Hurricane won the game 3-1 and is now the third time in the Rod Brind’Amour era to reach the Eastern Conference finals.

Now we’re waiting

When the Hurricanes reach the Eastern Conference finals, they still have to wait for their opponents. They will face the winners of the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs as the series will compete in Game 6 on Friday night (May 16). Either way, the Hurricanes have been rolling lately and they will continue to move forward on their playoff journey.
