Montreal Victoria and Ottawa charges face Game 4 of the playoff series in TD Place on Friday, May 16. The charge won 2-1 and reached the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) final.
Game review
It was only two minutes after the first phase that Ottawa knew about their existence. Two minutes into the game, Rebecca Leslie stole the puck from Victoire in the Montreal offensive zone. Leslie drives with Anna Meixner. In a 2-to-1 breakthrough, Meixner shot Ann-Renee Desbiens’ blocked shot. Leslie picked up the rebound and put the puck behind the net.
In the second phase, both the charges and Vidor were fined. For four minutes, Kristin O’Neill sat down and tripped, and ten minutes later, Emily Clark sat down and tripped. Both fines were killed, and the second time ended with the same score, with a charge of 1-0.
In just 31 seconds in the third second, Jocelyne Larocque shot online and was blocked by Desbiens. Clark picked up the rebound and slid it in front of the net. She shot, adding to the lead on the charge.
With five minutes left in the third minute, Jennifer Gardiner knocked the puck into the center of the ice and Maureen Murphy picked it up. She slid it online, sucking the puck towards her body, and then shooting. The initial shot was blocked, but Murphy picked up the rebound and sent it into the back of the net. While Victoire tried to tie the game up, that wasn’t enough and the allegations eliminated Montreal from the playoffs.
The final begins on Tuesday
The charge will host Minnesota Frost on Tuesday, May 20, for the first game of the final.
